18 Bombinhas and Southern beaches

The next stop was at the state of Santa Catarina.

Bombinhas, Little Bombs, is a crowded beach town nowadays. One has to pay toll to drive into the city limits (check google maps). But one can visit great, lesser-known beaches in the region.  Another little beach on the horizon. The little beach was closer after zooming. A minimally different angular approach to describe a beach with a difficult hilly access. Nothing else to do? What about the lifeguards in this region?

An empty beach.  Even I could be a lifeguard in those conditions.

Should anyone sail on these boats? Of course not.
“We prefer to swim, walk or fly”.

That is not our kind of coast. Where is the sand?

Then, where should we go?

Should we get a boat and sail to the middle of the bay? To that interesting building? A bar-restaurant.
Or should we go home to Portugal with the news about thousands of   beaches we saw?
Are there going to be so many caravels sailing to this new land? By the way, New York, New York, or the other popular writing, “I love New York” is everywhere. Never mind, it is my own cup.

Do we have to take the little boat to go back home?

Portuguese azulejos, tiles, have been made since the 14th century. “Paintings” made of azulejos have many sizes, distinct configurations, and specific themes.

Churches are linked to such artwork, even in these tiles depicted in Brazil.

Praias do Jurerê, O que Gira, What Turns, were also visited in the same island near Florianopolis, President Floriano City, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina.

View of the channel between the Florianopolis island and the continent. Not a passage to the spice market in India.

Did we find the channel to Bengal Bay in the south of Brazil?

Not really. We entered the river at the port of Rio Grande, Great River, and ended-up in Porto Alegre, Happy Port, capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Southern-most state in Brazil.

Have some European boats arrived here before we did? A channel not to India, but for fishing boats far away from the real ocean.

A state known for gauchos and their cookouts.

unknown sources

We have not discovered the passage to India.
It is time to return to Portugal with the news that we discovered a new continent. Millions of great, beautiful beaches. Besides, we bet that there are many, many more great beaches around this place.

Even the motels treated us with love! Look at that towel over the bed…
